London calling (fall 2007)
I went yesterday to London calling fall 2007. One year ago I also blogged about the event. Last year I had a bitter taste, and left the venue somewhat disappointed and mourning dead good old BritPop. This year I left the venue more drunk and satisfied. Three bands really deserve to be mentioned and I really liked two of them.
The one I did not like but enjoyed is new young pony club... they're to bananarama what the darkness was to thin lizzy (watch a video here). Priceless looks and really enjoyable if drunk enough.
Now the two bands that made the night:
1. The maccabees.
fresh, up and coming....and very good live.
2. Foals
The voice seems to me a bit similar to Robert Smith's. They are reportedly already big in the UK. These guys will open Bloc party on Wednesday here in Amsterdam. Definitely a worth-watching support act.
